About Us

The New Federation of Asian American United Methodists (NFAAUM) is a recognized racial ethnic caucus in The United Methodist Church.  Twelve sub-ethnic caucuses compose NFAAUM:  Cambodian, Chinese, Filipino, Formosan, Hmong, Indian, Japanese American, Korean, Lao & Thai, Middle Eastern, Pakistani, and Vietnamese.

PURPOSE OF THIS ORGANIZATION

Our purpose is: (a) to emphasize on the linkages and the empowerment of the Asian American local churches of The United Methodist Church; (b) to articulate the concerns, interest and needs of the Asian American constituencies in all levels of The United Methodist Church; (c) to advocate for the causes of Asian Americans before appropriate boards and agencies of The United Methodist Church; (d) to coordinate Asian American programs and activities of the general and national United Methodist Church, its jurisdictional conferences, its annual conferences, its ethnic and special interest caucuses in relationship with boards and agencies of The United Methodist Church,  its annual conferences, its jurisdictional conferences, and its ethnic and special interest caucuses in relationship with boards and agencies of The United Methodist Church; (e) to promote relevant and meaningful Asian American ministries at all levels of The United Methodist Church; (f) to encourage the full participation of Asian American United Methodists in all aspects of the life of The United Methodist Church; and (g) to carry on charitable and educational activities associated with this purpose.
